Collection of Drawings

This is an archive of some of the pen & ink drawings from my sketchbook between the years 2022 and 2024

A much younger me wanted to be like the ole' fashion animation masters of the past. Men like Frank Thomas, Ollie Johnston or Aaron Blaise. Artists who's draftsmanship was so strong we still marvel at it in their stories today.

However, times have changed. These days draftsmanship is just another tool in the box. The overwhelming majority of agencies and studios don't have the time or resources to invest in hand-drawn craft past the ideation phase. Today's ethos is all about being 'good & fast', with a 5 minute AI generation being preferred over an hour illustration from scratch. And theirs nothing inherently bad or wrong with that. After years of being in the business, I understand that time is money and art is expensive. But a part of me still wishes craft was valued like it was back then, and I think we all feel that way sometimes.

I've included these drawings not because I think they're particularly impressive, but because every time I bring my sketchbook out in public, people seem happy to catch a glimpse of what I'm sketching. So i figured maybe you would too
